IV. Balaton Mountain Bike Marathon
Date: 5st May 2019
Location: Balatonfüred, parking place of the Market Hall
The traditional season-opening marathon race on the 5st of May will be in Balatonfüred this year.
The start and finish area in the old town of Balatonfüred will be set up in the parking lot of the marketplace. The contestants will be cheered on by many viewers and fans.
The track will continue towards the upper forest area and run through it’s diverse roads on 25 and 50 km long distances. These paths are 90% soil and other natural terrain.
The track is categorized under medium difficulty, which means it’s possible for everyone to ride to the end. It’s a diverse and entertaining experience for every participant. We bravely recommend it to those who haven’t been on a mountainbiking marathon before, but would like to see how a track like this is. Naturally we welcome our more active contestants, to whom this race is a fantastic set off for the rest of the annual race season.
The racers are set to bike along the Balaton-highlands’ atmospheric and fabulous landscapes, passing through the Balatonszőlős and Hidegkút villages
The aims of the race:
To popularize mountainbike tourism in the Balaton area.
For our more adventurous bike riders, diverging from the bike path can lead to wonderous natural sights. The track has multiple points where we can get a fresh and unique new view to lake Balaton.
The unique natural sights, the diverse forest landscapes, the atmospheric villages, the many wine cellars and vineyards give the Balaton it’s fantastic and full experience. These are all accessible via bicycle.
It’s also important to develop active and adventurous cycling tourism, because the pre and after season times are the best for cycling in the Balaton area.
We want to give the people who travel along the path of the race a taste of the beautiful scenery.
You can apply to the race at a reduced fare (before 2018. April 13) on the sportaktiv website. On-location application is on the day of the race (May 1st, Tuesday) between 8 and 11.
The race sets off at 12!
The main patron of the race is the Mayor of Balatonfüred, Dr. Bóka István.
We eagerly await any and all applicants!
